A woman found dead in west Auckland early Thursday has been named by police as Angela Joy Smith.
The 49-year-old was found dead at a property in Great North Rd, Henderson about 1:30am.
In a statement on Friday, Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor said Smith's family were "understandably devastated".
"We, along with Victim Support, are supporting them during this incredibly difficult time."
A post-mortem was conducted on Friday, Det Insp Proctor said.
"Our investigation into Angela’s death is ongoing and we are continuing two scene examinations at addresses on Great North Rd and Norcross Ave."
Det Insp Proctor said "positive lines of enquiry" are being followed and several people are being spoken to by police.
Smith's family has requested privacy, he said.
