An Auckland neighbourhood was cordoned off on Saturday afternoon as police sought a person of interest.

A spokesperson told Newshub that officers, including armed staff, attempted to locate the individual at a Universal Dr, Henderson property, but were unsuccessful.

"Cordons were in place on the surrounding streets but have since been stood down as the address has been cleared.

"Armed staff were in attendance as a precaution."

Auckland Transport warned of the road closure, with bus services diverted for a time. The 146 services instead used Rathgar Rd and Pomaria Rd, but returned to its normal route from about 2:30pm.
