New Zealand has recorded no new cases of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health has confirmed.
There remains just three active cases of coronavirus in the country. Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield told reporters on Friday 6273 tests were conducted in New Zealand on Thursday.
The country's total confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 remain at 1507 and two additional clusters - from a wedding in Bluff and Christchurch's Rosewood Rest Home - have now closed.
It follows one case being recorded on Thursday and two on Tuesday after a 24-day run of no new infections.
The cases recorded on Tuesday, two women, were given an exemption from managed isolation following a family member's sudden death but were not tested before leaving, sparking a massive uproar and raising questions over the effectiveness of New Zealand's quarantine measures.
Dr Bloomfield said at Friday's press conference it was reassuring there were no further infections, given the high number of tests conducted on Thursday.
"Yesterday [Thursday] across our managed isolation facilities, 1061 tests were completed through five mobile units the District Health Boards provided.
"There are a further nearly 700 tests scheduled today also being provided by the mobile units, and testing will continue in those facilities over the weekend."
Following the quarantine debacle earlier this week, Assistant Chief of Defence Air Commodore Digby Webb was asked to oversee the quarantine and managed isolation facilities, including processes around exits. He is due to address the media on Friday afternoon.
