Three people were stabbed in a fight at a central Auckland bar overnight, on the first weekend of increased freedom under alert level 1.
A fourth person was knocked unconscious in the incident, which happened at a bar on Wyndham St.
"All were taken to hospital however their conditions were not thought to be serious," police told Newshub.
Enquiries into that incident are ongoing, but it wasn't the only one they had to attend. A man was attacked on nearby Fort St.
A 26-year-old man is due to appear in the Auckland District Court on Friday charged with assault with intent to injure.
The victim is in hospital in a serious condition.
"While police staff were kept busy overnight, we had anticipated there would be increased numbers of people in the central city this weekend," a spokesperson said.
It's the first weekend since the country went into alert level 1, with the threat of the deadly coronavirus waning with no new cases reported in weeks.
