A Mongrel Mob member who died in a recent homicide has been farewelled in the Waikato clubhouse.
Deiderick John Grant, known as DJ, was critically injured in Bader, Hamilton on Friday.
Police were called to a Slim Street address at around 5:50pm after being alerted to an assault, but Grant died at the scene.
On Tuesday the 57-year-old was formally identified and police launched an investigation to find the offender.
On Monday, members of the Waikato chapter farewelled Grant.
The Mongrel Mob Kingdom president shared video to Facebook of Grant's coffin being carried into the clubhouse, and the members then sharing a meal.
He said they wouldn't forget DJ.
"There's a misconception that some people like to promote the MM Kingdom is hated among its peers!" he wrote.
"But when it comes down to reliability? You can always guarantee the Kingdom will never let you down when you call upon its services.
"Moe Mai, Moe Mai Ra, e te rangatira DJ Rogue - gone but never forgotten."
Friends and family have shared their condolences in the comments.
The police are now appealing for the public to help in the investigation.
"Police are also speaking to witnesses but we would like to hear from anyone else who may have information that can assist the investigation," said Det Snr Sgt William Loughrin.
"Witnesses or anyone who has information and is yet to come forward is urged to contact Police on 105."
