The Ministry of Education has confirmed all schools and early learning services have been released from lockdown after today's West Auckland shooting.
Police advised the Ministry of Education of the lockdown lifting, which they passed onto affected schools.
Eight schools were placed into lockdown just before midday as police pursued and reportedly arrested two men.
The scene unfolded after cops performed a routine traffic stop on Reynella Dr, Massey, it took them around two hours to find the shooter.
During the pursuit, two officers were shot and one later died. Both were taken to hospital.
A member of the public was hit by the fleeing vehicle and suffered minor injuries.
