There have been no new cases of COVID-19 reported over the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says.
That means the number of confirmed cases recorded in New Zealand remains at 1210. It has now been 91 days since the last case of the virus was acquired locally from an unknown source.
Four cases have recovered, bringing the total number of active cases in managed isolation and quarantine facilities to 20. No one is receiving hospital-level care for the illness.
On Thursday, labs completed 2476 tests. Of these, 2022 swabs were taken in community and 454 were taken in isolation facilities. Overall, 465,066 tests have been conducted in New Zealand.
Targeted testing surveillance will happen over the weekend in Queenstown, south Auckland and Christchurch. These three locations "are connected" to the individual who was in New Zealand before testing positive in South Korea. The person was in Manurewa and Takanini between June 20 and July 20, Queenstown between July 1 and 4, and around Christchurch Airport between July 20 and 21.
"The DHBs and public health units will be providing community specific information around where and when testing can take place. You'll find this information on their websites and on social media," the ministry says.
"If you have, or may have had symptoms, please contact Healthline or your GP for an assessment for testing. The COVID-19 assessment and COVID-19 testing are both free.
"People who may have been in those areas around those dates but have now moved elsewhere can also call Healthline for further advice about getting tested."
The ministry thanked all contacts who have so far been tested. No tests have come back positive and there's no evidence of transmission in Aotearoa involving the individual.
"We continue to encourage everyone who is offered a test to take this up. These negative test results provide us with confidence that New Zealand has no community transmission of COVID-19.
"Testing is the best way we can be assured that there is no undetected community transmission in New Zealand – and we need everyone to play their part in that. If you are offered a test for COVID-19 please get swabbed."
Anyone who is concerned can call Healthline on 0800 358 5453.
