Train services at Wellington Station have now resumed after being suspended due to an "operational issue".
Earlier on Thursday, Metlink Wellington notified the public that several services were suspended. The services affected included:
- HVLHutt Valley Line (Upper Hutt - Wellington)
- JVLJohnsonville Line (Johnsonville - Wellington)
- KPLKapiti Line (Waikanae - Wellington)
- MELMelling Line (Melling - Wellington)
- WRLWairarapa Line (Masterton - Wellington)
After being out of action for about 45 minutes, at 10:15am, the trains began operating again. However, Metlink is warning of delays.
The Metlink Wellington Twitter account says that due to the issue, some train services will be replaced by bus services.
The first train services to depart from Wellington are:
- Johnsonville Line: The 10:32am service from Wellington to Johnsonville
- Kapiti Line: The 10:33am service from Wellington to Waikanae
- Hutt Valley Line: The 10:50am service from Wellington to Upper Hutt
- Melling: The 11:17am service from Wellington to Melling
Kapiti Coast District Councillor Gwynn Compton tweeted earlier that he was "stuck outside the station" and that a train manager said they were "waiting on clearance and don't have any more information". At about 9:50am, he asked the Metlink Wellington Twitter account for an ETA.
