An earthquake has struck on Wednesday within 5km of Christchurch.
The magnitude 3.3 quake hit at 12:20pm at a depth of around 9km.
"The quake may have been felt in Akaroa, Amberley, Christchurch, Oxford, and surrounding localities," GeoNet says.
So far, over 1000 people have reported feeling the earthquake.
"First one I've felt in this building. Short and sharp," one person wrote on Twitter.
