Two people have been arrested after a person allegedly threatened a supermarket staff member in the Otago town of Mosgiel on Monday.
One man also threatened to shoot police following the incident at the Mosgiel Countdown, the Otago Daily Times reported, citing a witness.
According to a witness at the scene who spoke to Newshub, the incident may have unfolded after the man was asked for ID at the Countdown store.
Photos from the scene showed police and Armed Offenders Squad members in the area.
A police spokeswoman told Newshub two people were arrested following the incident about 12pm.
"A person reportedly threatened a staff member at the business," she said.
"Further updates will be made when available."
