It's been a decade since the 2010 Canterbury earthquake, which destroyed buildings and left others uninhabitable.
The magnitude 7.1 quake hit at 4:34am on September 4, 2010, tearing homes and roads apart, causing extensive liquefaction and other widespread damage.
Its epicentre was south-east of Darfield - about 40 kilometres west of Christchurch.
Here's one of Newshub's (then-3 News) first reports on the quake.
