An investigation is underway after the unexplained death of a woman in south Auckland on Sunday morning.
Police were alerted to a woman who had been assaulted at a Smedley St address in Manurewa about 3:20am. She died at the scene.
A man was arrested a short time later and is speaking with police.
No-one else is being sought in relation to the incident, a police spokesperson said.
"A scene examination is underway and a scene guard is in place."
