A baby critically injured after being attacked by a dog in Hamilton has died.
Emergency services rushed to the child's aid on Sunday evening after they were bitten by a dog at an address in the suburb of Enderly. The baby was then transported to Waikato Hospital.
On Tuesday morning, police confirmed the baby had died overnight and the matter had been referred to the Coroner.
The dog has been taken to the council's animal control facility.
"This is a traumatic time for all involved and our thoughts are with the families and individuals involved," Hamilton City Council animal control manager Susan Stanford previously said.
"Further decisions regarding the animal will be informed by the ongoing police investigation."
