The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has postponed changes planned to be made for the fire testing building code.
New rules were due out in June over the testing of combustible cladding but those changes have since been put on hold.
An MBIE spokesperson told Stuff last week most of the changes would be published next month.
But Shawn McIsaac from building design company Oculus is calling the delay "crazy", saying material is able to go up in flames extremely quickly.
He spoke to The AM Show about his concerns.
