There are two new cases of coronavirus in New Zealand - but for the 19th consecutive day there is no evidence of community transmission, with all cases detected at the border.
The Ministry of Health revealed in a press release on Wednesday that the new cases tested positive while staying in managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) facilities.
One of the new cases arrived in New Zealand from Bangladesh, via Brisbane and Doha, on October 7. They were taken to a MIQ facility in Hamilton and tested positive as part of routine day three testing.
The other arrived from London, via Dubai, on October 9. They were taken to a managed isolation facility in Hamilton and also tested positive as part of routine day three testing.
Both new cases have now been transferred to Auckland's quarantine facility, the Jet Park Hotel.
The two cases, combined with one new recovery on Wednesday, sees the number of active cases in New Zealand climb one to 40 - all of which are imported.
The total number of confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 now stands at 1874.
Meanwhile New Zealand's laboratories processed another 5850 tests on Tuesday, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 1,011,657.
