Wellingtonians were treated to the special sight of at least three orcas swimming in the harbour on Wednesday.
The trio appeared in the shallow waters at around 1pm and were seen catching stingray and delighting locals in the process.
Several videos were posted to social media as locals heard about the animals' visit.
"Oh wow," a person is heard saying in one clip posted to Twitter, while another says, "holy shit".
Another video shows the orcas swimming by the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club in Oriental Bay.
"I think they're looking for stingrays. Look at them go," a person is heard saying.
One person tweeted a photo of two orcas and said "what a treat" it was to see them.
Pods of orcas visit Wellington Harbour looking for stingrays, but they don't often stay for long, according to the Department of Conservation. They also often explore the northern end of the harbour and the Kāpiti Coast.
