The Ministry of Health has confirmed an Auckland quarantine worker has tested positive for COVID-19.

The worker was tested regularly as part of routine testing, returning a negative test on November 4 before developing symptoms on November 5.

They were tested again on November 5 and that test has returned a positive result.

They are considered a community case as they are not an overseas returnee.

The Ministry of Health says the worker's contacts are being traced, isolated and tested.

Two businesses in Auckland have also been contacted by Auckland Regional Public Health Service due to visits from the positive case while infectious.

The businesses are Auckland's Mezze Bar and bottle shop Liquor.com on Queen St.

The Ministry of Health says anyone who visited Mezze Bar between 11am and 1pm on November 5 is considered a casual contact, and anyone who visited Liquor.com on the same day between 1pm and 2pm is also considered a casual contact.

If patrons and staff of these two businesses develop symptoms they should call Healthline on 0800 358 5453.
