Microbiologist Dr Siouxsie Wiles has gone global, making it into the BBC's list of 2020's 100 most inspiring women.
The Auckland University scientist made the list alongside other powerful women like US actress and activist Jane Fonda and Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin.
The BBC described Wiles as "a force of nature" during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It also referenced her collaboration with cartoonist Toby Morris about how to flatten the curve of infection.
"[The cartoon] has been translated into many languages and adapted by governments to help people understand lockdowns".
Wiles posted on Twitter about the mention saying it was something she definitely didn't see coming back in January.
"What an honour!" she said.
The achievement comes days after Wiles won the Stuff-Westpac Women of Influence award, where she said she felt "absolutely privileged" to help with New Zealand's COVID-19 response.
She also reminded Kiwis the pandemic is not over yet, and urged everyone to keep scanning their location using the COVID-19 tracer app.
