A man who has been on trial for raping a woman in an Auckland motel has been found guilty.
The man, who has interim name suppression, had pleaded not guilty to rape in the High Court at Auckland.
After a three-day judge-alone trial this week - Justice Venning returned a guilty verdict this morning.
The judge said he accepted the woman's evidence - that the man had raped her after a date in early 2018.
He said the woman did not consent to having sex with the defendant - nor did he reasonably believe she was consenting.
Justice Venning convicted the man and remanded him in custody to be sentenced on 27 November.
