Police are hunting down the perpetrators of an apparent drive-by shooting in Rotorua on Friday night.
A man arrived at Rotorua Hospital late with a gunshot wound to his leg. Police were alerted to the incident on Wrigley Rd just before 11:30pm.
"The victim's injuries, while serious, are not considered life-threatening," a spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday.
Police are now "following lines of enquiry" to identify the vehicle the offender was driving. Both the vehicle and the shooter are yet to be found.
"We acknowledge these types of incidents are unsettling for the Rotorua community," read the statement.
"While firearms events always present an unacceptable risk, we do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the general public."
