A Bunnings store in Auckland has closed temporarily after concerns were raised about its "seismic resilience".
There are suspected issues with the carpark at its Mt Roskill store on Carr Rd, the company said in a statement on Friday.
"Bunnings will temporarily close its Mount Roskill store after receiving engineers' advice that raised concerns around the seismic resilience of the car park. Based on that advice, we have made the decision to close the store until further notice whilst we work through next steps with our landlord and engineers."
Jacqui Coombes, Bunnings NZ director, apologised for the inconvenience.
"We have to make sure our stores are safe for [our] team and customers and we thank customers for their understanding.
"We are making sure our team are looked after during this time and we will redeploy them to nearby stores or offer individual options that work for them. We are working with our landlord and engineers on next steps and we'll update our customers and the community as soon as we can"
Customers could instead go to one of their other stores in Manukau, Grey Lynn, Mount Wellington or New Lynn, Coombes said. Rival Mitre 10 doesn't have any of its comparable Mega stores in Mt Roskill, but does have locations in nearby Onehunga, New Lynn and Henderson.
Alternatively, shoppers can still go online and get items delivered, Coombes said.
