One person has died after a car plunged into water near Warkworth, north Auckland.
Police said emergency services were notified just after 5pm on Sunday that a car had crashed into a river near the Baxter St and Queen St intersection.
"Access was gained to the car a short time ago and the sole occupant was found to be deceased," it said.
"The serious crash unit has been alerted and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway."
Fire and Emergency said it had two appliances at the scene.
