A gunshot was fired at Dr Rudi's Rooftop Bar in Auckland CBD early on Sunday morning in an "extremely serious incident", police have confirmed.
The incident unfolded after a group of people became aggressive when they were removed from the bar, with one pulling out a gun, police said in a statement to Newshub.
After a brief altercation with others outside the venue, the firearm was discharged into the foyer ceiling shortly before 3am.
No one was injured in the incident.
Officers are now making enquiries to identify and locate the person responsible. As of 8:45am on Sunday, no arrests have been made.
"This was an extremely serious incident with a large number of bystanders, and it is incredibly fortunate that no one was injured," Acting Det Snr Sgt Mark Franich told Newshub.
"We are absolutely committed to finding the person responsible and holding them to account."
