A man has been critically injured after allegedly being assaulted in Wattle Downs, Auckland on Wednesday night.
Police said the incident happened on Glenross Drive just before 10:30pm.
"The victim has received critical injuries as a result of the attack and has undergone surgery at Middlemore Hospital," Detective Inspector Chris Barry told Newshub.
"It is believed that more than one offender has been involved."
Det Insp Barry said police were making enquiries to identify the offenders and were urging anyone who witnessed the incident or had any information on what happened to contact police on 09 261 1321 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
