Emergency services are responding to a "massive" fire at a central Auckland school on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire is believed to have broken out at Ponsonby Intermediate School before 4:30pm.
Photos posted to social media show smoke billowing out above central Auckland.
A police spokesperson confirmed they are assisting with traffic management in the area.
The lead investigator for Fire and Emergency NZ told Newshub they were called to the fire just before 4:30pm, which originated in a computer classroom.
They said "it is too early to speculate whether it's suspicious while it's still unfolding".
Auckland Transport has confirmed Clarence Street between Jervois Road and Pompallier Tce has closed due to the fire, and told motorists to expect delays.
The incident comes after another blaze broke out at St Stephen's Church on Saturday, which is located just around the corner from the school.
Fire and Emergency was called about the large blaze just before 3:30pm and had 14 trucks respond.
The fire caused damage to external walls of the structure as well as the roof.
