A person is dead after a diving incident at Pourerere Beach on Friday morning.
Police were called around 8:50am to the Hawke's Bay beach after witnesses said someone was in difficulty in the water.
"Medical assistance was provided but the person sadly died at the scene," a police spokesperson says.
The death will be referred to the Coroner.
