Three people have died after a truck and car crashed in central Hawke's Bay on Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to State Highway 2, in Takapau, near Waipukurau, about 2:50pm.
The three people in the car died.
The truck driver was airlifted to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
The road will remain closed for the next few hours.
Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not spoken to police was asked to make contact via 105, quoting event number P044610166.
