An Auckland woman is lucky to be unharmed after a truck crashed into her house on Tuesday.
Police say the crash on King St in Kingsland caused significant damage - but no one was injured.
Resident Melissa Hill was asleep in bed when the truck smashed through her bedroom wall.
"I woke up at 4:20am this morning to a truck having crashed through my bedroom window."
After being startled awake, Hill said her first instinct was to check whether the driver was hurt.
"I didn't know what to think. I woke up to a loud bang and went down the hallway and called the police."
"My first instinct was that the driver had passed out and the truck had rolled down the hill and he was hurt. My first instinct was to call the ambulance but my neighbours were outside and they said that no one was hurt."
The truck driver was dropping off a delivery at Bluebells Cakery on the corner when the truck rolled down the hill, she said.
"I think he was doing a delivery at Bluebells... I am on a hill and it rolled down the hill and into my bedroom."
"The driver said that he had been loading stuff and had the truck in neutral with the handbrake on and it had just rolled down... while he was unloading."
Police and engineers managed to remove the truck from the property but the house has been left with large holes in the walls and roof.
Hill said she is just thankful no one was hurt.
"It's a pain in the backside for this time of year because we have got an exposed house but no one has been hurt."
