A fire at a managed isolation facility in Rotorua forced its residents out of the building.
A managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) spokesperson told Newshub the "small" fire broke out at Sudima Hotel at 1:05pm on Thursday.
Three of the six blocks of the facility were evacuated with the help of the police, MIQ staff and hotel security.
The MIQ spokesperson says all facilities operate according to COVID-19 alert level 4 rules - so strict physical distancing and use of masks and other PPE are enforced.
"The safety of our staff and returnees is our top priority to ultimately ensure the safety of our community."
Guests have been given permission to return to their rooms.
