A large scrub fire at Pines Beach near Christchurch has been contained, but it's not fully extinguished.
Seven crews were at the scene overnight, taking on the vegetation fire which spread to 20 hectares.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says extra crews, heavy machinery, and possibly aircraft will be deployed at first light.
