A police investigation is underway after a body was found at Auckland's Point Chevalier Beach.
The body was found by a member of the public just after 6:40am on Thursday.
"A section of the beach and surrounding area has been cordoned off whilst enquiries are underway to establish what has occurred," a police spokesperson said. "A family member of the deceased was present at the time officers arrived and is being supported."
The spokesperson said the investigation is in its early stages and no further information was available.
"A further update will be provided when more information is known."
