Police are investigating after reports someone fired blank rounds at another person at a north Auckland petrol station in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at about 4:15am at a Z petrol station on Whangaparāoa Rd, partway along the peninsula.
A police spokesperson told Newshub the people are believed to be known to each other.
They say they are following "strong lines of enquiry".
A blank round is a type of firearm cartridge that generates a flash and loud noise like any other gunshot, but doesn't shoot ammunition.
A Whangaparāoa local told Newshub cordons were put in place and traffic was diverted in the aftermath of the incident.
