An 18-year-old Cambridge man has been charged with murder following a serious assault in Nawton, Hamilton.
A 43-year-old man was found dead in a property at Aileen Place on Wednesday morning.
A police spokesperson told Newshub earlier on Wednesday the victim and alleged offender are believed to have known each other.
"A man has been taken into custody in relation to the incident and is assisting police with their enquiries," they said.
The man was taken into custody on Jasmine Place in Cambridge - a half-hour drive away from the assault scene.
Police say they are still in the early stages of the investigation, but they are not seeking any further people in connection with the matter.
The 18-year-old will appear in Hamilton District Court on Thursday.
