Coronavirus: 10 COVID-19 cases reported in MIQ, none in community

The Ministry of Health reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday afternoon, all in MIQ.

Eight of the cases are arrivals from India via UAE, ahead of Sunday's temporary 17-day travel ban on arrivals from the hard-hit nation.

The other two were from the UAE via Malaysia, and Canada via the US.

"There are no new positive cases from contacts of the COVID-19 case in a worker at the Grand Millennium managed isolation facility. The worker returned a positive swab after being tested on Tuesday," the ministry said in a statement.

"Fifteen close contacts have been identified. All have been contacted and are self isolating. Eleven have returned negative test results and we are awaiting further results."

No locations of interest have been identified. Notifications will be sent to users of the COVID Tracer app if any are found, the ministry said.

The number of active cases in the country is 105, and the total to date 2215. On Friday 5185 tests were processed, 26,801 for the week.
