One person is in serious condition after being struck by a car in the Auckland suburb of Sandringham.
Police responded to reports on Sandringham Road at 3:50am on Sunday morning.
The pedestrian has been transported to Auckland Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
According to Detective Inspector Uraia Vakaruru, the vehicle left the scene immediately following the crash and has yet to be located.
A scene examination is being carried out on Sandringham Road on Sunday morning and the road will be closed.
Police are actively making enquiries into this incident and would like to hear from anyone who has any more information.
