Easter is often a dangerous holiday period in terms of road deaths. In saying this, last year no one died during the Easter period on the road, which was largely due to New Zealand being in lockdown at the time.
Waka Kotahi NZTA is urging drivers to take care on the road this Easter.
NZTA Auckland operations manager Rua Pani says drivers should allow plenty of time to get to their destination safely.
"Congestion and delays are inevitable in peak times, but if everyone leaves plenty of time for their journey, drives to the conditions, and plans ahead before leaving home, the worst of the frustrations can be eased and everyone can concentrate on arriving safely at their destination."
