Witnesses are being asked to come forward after three people were assaulted in Christchurch early on Sunday, one of whom was seriously injured.
Emergency services were called to the incident outside Cruz Bar, on Victoria St in the CBD, just after 3am.
Police say the assault, which appears to be unprovoked, saw three people attacked. One of the victims remains in Christchurch Hospital with serious head injuries.
An investigation is underway and the community is being asked to help identify the offenders.
"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area from 2am until 4am on Sunday, March 21," police said in a statement.
