Two new COVID-19 cases in managed isolation, none in the community

The Ministry of Health has announced New Zealand has two new cases of COVID-19 in managed isolation.

There are no new cases in the community.

One of the new positive border cases is a person who travelled to New Zealand from India via the United Arab Emirates on April 8. They tested positive on day five of their stay in an Auckland MIQ facility and are a close contact of a previously reported case.

The second case is a traveller from Ethiopia via the United Arab Emirates. They arrived in New Zealand on April 10 and have been staying in an Auckland MIQ facility. The case tested positive on day three of MIQ during a routine test.

The seven-day rolling average of New Zealand's new cases detected at the border is five, the Ministry of Health said.

"The number of previously reported cases that have now recovered is two. The total number of active cases in New Zealand today is 101. Our total number of confirmed cases is 2235."

Since the pandemic began, laboratories have processed almost 2 million (1,959,282) COVID-19 tests.

On Wednesday alone, 5455 tests were processed and the seven-day rolling average up until Wednesday is 4524 tests.

Auckland's pop-up testing centre at the Mt Roskill War Memorial will continue to operate throughout the week.

The ministry reported the amount of users for the NZ COVID Tracer app has reached 2,782,191.

There have also been 247,946,844 poster scans to date.

"It's critical to keep track of where you've been and the COVID Tracer app is an easy way to do this. Please continue to scan QR codes wherever you go and turn on Bluetooth tracing in the app dashboard if you haven't already done so."
