A woman believed to have helped a wanted gang member hide from police has been arrested in connection to the Auckland Sofitel hotel shooting last month.

The woman - a 25-year-old - was located on Friday after an incident in Northland, but Hone Reihana is still on the run.

Reihana, 27, also known as Hone Hawira, is a patched Head Hunter gang member wanted in connection to the luxury hotel shooting on April 14.

Police say it is likely he will be facing further charges.

"He is considered dangerous and should not be approached by the public," Det Insp John Sutton said.

Anyone who sees Reihana is asked to contact police immediately by phoning 111.

"Police repeat our warning that anyone found to be assisting Reihana in evading police could find themselves liable for prosecution."

The woman  is charged with being an accessory after the fact and will appear in the Whangarei District Court on Saturday morning.
