There is one new case of coronavirus in New Zealand's managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) facilities, but none in the community.
The latest COVID-19 update, released by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, also gives details about a mariner who recently returned a weak positive test.
Clinical experts had classified this as a probable historical infection, as the person has been at sea for 25 days and their test result had a high CT value. This has since been confirmed after a repeat swab was taken and processed on Tuesday afternoon.
"The mariner was tested in order to disembark to receive medical treatment. They remain on board the ship, which is currently docked in Bluff," the ministry said in a statement at 1pm.
"The Public Health Unit has assessed the public health risk as negligible. Further testing is being undertaken to confirm the infection as historical."
In an update, the Ministry of Health said the mariner will now be permitted to leave the ship to access medical treatment.
The new MIQ case is a recent returnee who landed in Auckland on Saturday, May 15 from Indonesia, having transitted through Singapore. They have now been transferred to Auckland's quarantine facility, the Jet Park Hotel.
On Tuesday, another person recovered from COVID-19, meaning the number of active cases in New Zealand remains at 19. The total number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic is 2297.
Another 2727 COVID-19 tests were added to the tally on Monday, bringing the total number of tests processed by laboratories to date to 2,085,298.
