Two people have died in an early-morning crash in Waikato.
Police confirmed the fatalities on Friday morning. The crash, between a truck and a car, occurred on State Highway 1 in Karapiro at 1.40am.
The two people in the car were killed at the scene.
State Highway 1/Tirau Rd has been closed between Karapiro Rd and State Highway 29 and is expected to stay closed for several more hours.
