A car burst into flames on the Whangamoa Saddle between Blenheim and Nelson on Sunday, forcing the road to close.
Police told Newshub they were called to the fire at 3pm and closed the road in both directions for a short time.
Fire and Emergency confirmed the road is now back open and there were no injuries.
It's not yet known what caused the fire. A witness told Newshub they believed the car involved was electric.
One fire crew from Nelson was called to the scene alongside three from the local station in Hira.
