Police have cordoned off a Christchurch public pool after an unexplained sudden death.
A spokesperson told Newshub officers received a call at about 6:40am on Saturday morning after a person was found dead at Wharenui Swimming Pool and Sports Centre on the corner of Elizabeth and Matipo St in Riccarton. Their death is currently being treated as unexplained.
A post mortem examination is being carried out meaning it could be days before a cause is determined, police said.
Despite the police presence on Saturday morning, Stuff reports the pool's general manager saying it was open and operating.
