An investigation is underway after an elderly woman and her son were assaulted at a home in Napier, leaving both of them hospitalised.
Police say the injured pair were assaulted in the Nelson Park/Kennedy Rd between 7am and 8am on Sunday morning.
Emergency services transported them to hospital - where they remain in a serious but stable condition.
"Police would like to hear from residents and anyone else who was in the general area of Nelson Park and Kennedy Rd prior to and around this time, and may have noticed anything untoward," a statement said.
