There have been no new community cases in New Zealand overnight the Prime Minister says.

Jacinda Ardern confirmed the news to reporters at caucus run on Tuesday at the Beehive.

This means there have been no new community cases since a Sydney traveller who tested positive for the Delta variant of COVID-19 visited Wellington last week. The news will be a relief for Wellingtonians who have been at level 2 lockdown since Wednesday.

The city will hear today at 1pm if the lockdown is to be extended after Cabinet meets in the morning.

"I can confirm we have none to report today," Ardern said. "That is information I am happy to share out-of-cycle at this point in time as we go into those decisions, but decisions have not yet been on our settings."

Last Saturday night, the Government announced a three-day pause on quarantine-free travel with the whole of Australia as the situation across the Tasman worsens and there will be an update on this at the same 1pm press conference.

You can watch the 1pm press conference live on Three and online at Newshub.co.nz.
