Otters at Wellington Zoo are preparing for New Zealand's frigid blast by winter-proofing their den with straw to help stay nice and warm.
The capital was hammered by hail earlier on Tuesday and residents along the city's coastline have been asked to find alternative accommodation due to significant swells.
There are also heavy snow and strong wind watches in place for the area.
The cold winter weather means some local otters are battening down the hatches to help get through the polar blast.
"Just like the rest of Wellington, our Asian small-clawed otters are bracing for the cold weather today," Wellington Zoo wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
"Keeper Danni managed to get this great video of our boys winter-proofing their den with straw to keep the chill away."
The clip shows the otters scurrying about carrying straw and dragging it into their den to help keep it warm.
Facebook commenters found the video amusing and heartwarming.
"This is sooo lovely. Stay warm and toasty, beautiful otters," one says.
"How cute, such industrious little things," another writes.
"So wholesome," a third says.
