No cases of COVID-19 have been reported in New Zealand's community, and three cases have been detected in managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) facilities since Friday, the Ministry of Health says.
The total number of confirmed cases in New Zealand is now 2411. The Ministry of Health said one of the cases detected in MIQ was a traveller arriving from the United Kingdom, via the United Arab Emirates, one was an arrival from Malaysia, via Singapore, and the third was a passenger from Russia, who was also coming via the United Arab Emirates.
One previously reported case, from July 8, has now been reclassified as 'under investigation' and has been removed from the tally of active cases, the ministry said.
"As a result, the number of active cases in New Zealand has only gone up by two. It is now 34."
Viking Bay
The ministry said the Government was currently putting in place a plan to "appropriately manage" the return of the ship Viking Bay to New Zealand.
Earlier this week the ship was revealed to be carrying two coronavirus-infected mariners.
The Ministry of Health said the plan for the ship to return the ship to New Zealand includes "comprehensive health checks, including testing of crew".
"The ship's return to New Zealand has been assessed as having a very low health risk to the public."
More details of the plan would be given by Customs later on Sunday afternoon, the ministry said.
Testing update
The total number of COVID-19 tests processed by laboratories to date is 2,351,005.
On Friday, 6458 tests were processed across New Zealand. On Saturday, 4881 tests were processed.
The seven-day rolling average is 5,512, the ministry said, adding that testing locations nationwide can be found on the Healthpoint website.
