Two people have died following a horror crash in the rural west Auckland suburb of Whenuapai.
Police and emergency services responded to reports of a car and truck colliding on Brigham Creek Rd just after midday on Friday.
The two people were initially reported to be in a critical condition, but police have since confirmed they died of their injuries.
Drivers are being advised to avoid the area, with warnings Brigham Creek Rd will be closed "for some time".
Police say diversions are in place on State Highway 16 and near Joseph McDonald Dr.
"Motorists are advised to take an alternative route," a spokesperson said.
The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
