Woman charged over alleged erratic driving, ramming police car in Auckland CBD

A 60-year-old woman has been charged after she allegedly rammed a police car in Auckland CBD on Wednesday.

The woman has been charged with driving a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner and assault with a weapon.

She will appear in the Auckland District Court on Thursday.

Police were alerted to an erratic driver on Quay Street near Princes Wharf where a driver had reportedly driven the wrong way down the road and attempted to run over a member of the public.

Police arrived at the scene and footage shows officers attempting to stop the driver.

However, the motorist then makes a sharp U-turn at the corner of Quay Street and Lower Hobson Street, drives towards the police car, and rams into it.

The driver can then be seen getting out of her damaged vehicle and swearing at the police officers, before being subsequently arrested.
