New Zealand's daily COVID-19 cases have hit a new all-time high after 94 were reported on Tuesday.
The previous daily record was 89, which was recorded twice in early April last year during the height of the country's first lockdown.
Of Tuesday's new cases, 87 are in Auckland and seven in Waikato. Fifty-three of them are also yet to be linked to the current outbreak.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says cases in the city aren't just confined to one area - they're across 124 suburbs. She encourages anyone who is symptomatic to get a test.
"I just want to reinforce again that we're not powerless. We do have the ability to help keep cases as low as we can," she said during Tuesday's COVID-19 update.
"The rules matter for everyone, and our ask of testing if you're symptomatic applies to everyone."
Ardern says the public health team is also concerned about the high rate of COVID-19 cases on the North Shore.
"If you are on the North Shore experiencing any symptoms, even if you have been vaccinated, please do go and get a test. And to everyone, please remember this outbreak is not in one part of Auckland."
There were warnings last week from Director of Public Health Dr Caroline McElnay that the number of new daily cases could dramatically rise in the next fortnight if Auckland didn't follow alert level 3 rules.
"We expect the doubling of [daily new] cases over the next 14 days. That's assuming the trend continues and we don't know if that's likely to be the case," she said on Thursday.
"By people following the rules in alert level 3, we expect that we're able to get a lid on the situation in Auckland."
Auckland is in its ninth week of lockdown and is facing at least another two weeks in current level 3 restrictions.
